JJB, Datum's problems were already documented, see post 550 on this thread. I don't see much new information here. A better indicator of the health of the PCS market would probably be REMC which announced earnings yesterday. Earnings were estimated at $0.16 for the quarter and came in at $0.23, a 43% positive surprise. Ron Ragland, Chairman and CEO or Remec stated that: "We're pleased with the current results and remain positive on the trends in both our defense and commercial wireless markets. Although defense gross margins were under our expectations, the margins in commercial wireless exceeded expectations." The three main players in the commercial wireless market for VCO type components are VARL, REMC and MRM. If margins are going up for REMC, then this is bullish for VARL -- competative pressures are no problem. I think VARL will have a blow out Q4 similar to REMC and you will wish you had bought more stock below $10.

I understand your anguish regarding the recent lack of performance of VARL. Just think how many other people probably feel the same way as you. Look how the volume has dried up. Anyone who had any excuse to sell VARL has probably done so by now. Take a look back to some of the postings in the low 400's and see if they remind you of the current negative psychology. Remember those people who sold back then at 9 1/2 missed the quick ride from 9 1/2 to 12 1/2.

The current negative psychology, and the strong consolidation formation have made me very bullish on VARL. I substantially increased my position today based on the very positive announcement regarding PCS from REMC. Good luck if you do sell VARL though.

Greg.
