No, they aren't. While I have no problem with peer-review for those who want to participate in it, the idea that no process or paper is valid without peer review is just bullshit and an excuse for liberals who aren't able to adequately respond to them.

And using an overly complex model that leaves out key elements serves to cloud fundamental concepts that have been clear for decades, even centuries.

Economics is complicated business and as Hayek pointed out in his famous 1945 paper, a great deal of the available information goes unused by modern economic models anyway. As you know, when dealing with complex functions small variations caused by incorrect data or variables missing altogether can and do cause terrific perturbations in the resultant computations.

While I'm not detractor of math, sometimes you just have to stand back and look at your results and ask, "Is that even REASONABLE?"
