Re: Our financial future

I was thinking this morning about the predictions we make here and about how many have been wrong. If I had projected, back when I started this thread, that we could run up the kind of deficits we have run up the last four years without major inflation, You, (and me to) would have called me nuts. Yet here we are.

We are going to run up another four trillion or better debt the next four years. Will that end it? NOBODY KNOWS!

"Winter's coming," folks. But we are the engine of the world and in uncharted territory. We have no way of knowing how far off it is. As long as the Fed can print money and sell it back to itself at little or no interest rate, we can obviously go a very long time. Our debt is a bookkeeping entry that depends on the confidence of the world. Everyone would like to cash in on our demise but nobody really wants it to happen. Not when they would go under with us.
