11/23/12 Contest Update
There were few turkeys on Wall Street the day after Thanksgiving as investors hungrily gobbled up stocks. And both the overall market and, in particular, biotechs recorded robust gains for the week.
At Friday’s close, the Contest median was up 20.59% YTD (vs. up 14.30% YTD a week ago). In comparison, the Nasdaq Biotech Index was up 32.82% YTD (vs. up 26.42% YTD a week ago), while the Nasdaq Composite Index was up 13.88% YTD (vs. up 9.52% YTD a week ago).
RKRW’s portfolio, up 129.78% YTD, had a stellar week and remained our Contest King. But, thanks to a 20% allocation to CLSN, second place GENE’s portfolio, up 90.88% YTD, had an even better week and managed to somewhat cut into RKRW’s large lead. BIOMAV’s portfolio, up 60.03% YTD, held on to third place.
At Friday's close, 5 of the 38 Contest portfolios were in the red, with 11 of the 38 portfolios beating the NBI.
