We posted earlier that dominant Russian search engine Yandex will be the default search engine on Windows Phone 8 handsets in Russia and the CIS countries, including namely Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Ukraine.

Now TNW has revealed Yandex will also become the default search engine for Windows Phone 8 smartphones in Turkey, where it only has 0.5% market share.

Microsoft Russia’s president Nikolay Pryanishnikov told the local paper RBC daily that Microsoft has a strategic partnerships between the two companies in markets where Microsoft is not interested in trying to get a significant market share for Bing, and that the search engine may be offered in other countries as well.

Yandex only launched in Turkey in September 2011 and has managed only 0.5% market share by July 2012.

Would our Turkish readers prefer Bing over relative unknown and not deeply integrated Yandex, or is Bing so poor in the region in any case that it does not matter? Let us know below.
