I was dreaming when I wrote this, so sue me if I go to fast.
Just two minor quibbles, because I think you may have been dreaming just a little.
The new 27" iMac will have user accessible RAM slots, whenever it finally comes out. The 21.5" model, however, will not. The rest is correct, forget about adding a new/better hard drive or SSD to either model.
Secondly, I just installed an 8GB RAM upgrade in a brand spanking new 13" MacBook Pro, so it can be done, and pretty easily at that, compared to some older Mac laptops.
Just use a 00 size Phillips screwdriver, remove the screws on the bottom, and pull the cover off. RAM slots accessible right there in the middle. Install RAM, put cover back on, install screws and you're done. Directions are on Apple's support site:

Other than those two things, you weren't dreaming. |
