too much of "I'm cleaning my gun" type of reaction. People didn't "clean their guns" during the depression of the 1930's, so I doubt it will happen now, but who knows?? In spite of disastrous policies that are driving us into a slow motion train wreck, there still exists an enormous amount of wealth in this country that can't all be plundered over night. Unlike you, Bill, I'm not long term optimistic on the future of western civilization. The bleeding continues unabated. The bright lights are going out, one by one. IMO, the question of our descent is a matter of time frame and whether we go down with a bang or a drawn out whimper. I suspect the latter.. The veneer of civilization can indeed be thin and decency is on the wane. Wish it were otherwise..
