It is interesting that the Obama administration has enforced existing immigration law MUCH more stringently than any previous administration, and as a result deported far more illegal immigrants, and presumably discouraged even greater numbers to not attempt to enter illegally. My understanding is that all they really did was deport known illegal immigrant criminals, and enforce the existing law in a few selected large service businesses.

This may be only an anecdote, but here in Florida, my impression is that there has been a marked change in, for example, landscape crews. They used to be overwhelmingly Latin Americans, presumably illegal. They are now majority Americans.

We should never forget the devastating effect of uncontrolled illegal immigration on the wages and working conditions on low level service jobs in America -- jobs that cannot be outsourced, and almost the only jobs available to the American underclass.
