Robert,

The point is that you missed the boat completely by bailing out of SYSF at 30 3/4 last week. Did you get back in yet? It's still not too late.

Seriously, the point of this article in IBD is that SYSF knows how to cultivate and maintain good relationship with its OEMs. This is crucial because in order to build a good problems knowledge base, they need to work closely with the hardware and software OEMs to collect the information. A company such as PTEC who couldn't even establish good investor rapport will not be capable of maintaining good relationship with its OEMs. A company who is so shy about letting the investors know what they are working on is probably too shy to let the customers know what they are capable of. There is nothing wrong about SystemSoft pre-announcing potential sales if they are certain they will get them. If SystemSoft engineers are already working hand in hand with the OEMs for years and the OEMs are sharing confidential information with SystemSoft, is it certain enough that they know that they will get the contract?

Cases in hand: why did Phoenix let Intel go to SystemSoft for the System Wiz when Phoenix already worked with Intel for years? I can visualize that when Intel approached Phoenix to ask them to build the expert system, Phoenix's response was "we only build BIOS, expert system is not our job". This is like the typical engineer response: "I don't want to implement this feature into the product because it's too hard to test". (Do the customers care about how hard it is for you to test?) Why did Phoenix let their engineers go to start SystemSoft?
