So claiming that extra bandwidth is not needed for a smart grid is not correct for some implementations.
I don't know of any implementation that is or will be deployed in existing utility markets which will require extra bandwidth.

The bottom line is that you don't need bandwidth that is 10x the national average to implement smart power networks, contrary to what Shep tried to point out:
