The one thing I come across more than anything with a computer is if I want to keep one for a long time, it's the amount of memory it maxes out to. Two old computers I use, one a laptop and one a desktop for work each have a max of 2 GB it will take, 4x what it came with (the formula I think they always use). I put the best I could find in those slots, but their individual performances show the RAM's inadequacy. Planned obsolescence is the name of the game. I get it, it's how they survive in business; but, still, it's frustrating to replace an otherwise good machine before it's cooked a major part like the motherboard.
