11/30/12 Contest Update
Just when it seemed RKRW’s portfolio had a lock on the 2012 Contest title, the market gods intervened. News that ACAD’s Parkinson’s drug works rocketed the stock into orbit. And with a 20% allocation to ACAD, GENE’s portfolio, now up 161.15% YTD, was catapulted into the lead. However, with a month left in the Contest, RKRW’s portfolio, up 134.48%, should not yet be counted out. Holding on to show position, quite a bit behind the top two, is BIOMAV’s portfolio with a 62.01% YTD gain.
November’s final week was another winner for the Bulls and Contest portfolios did especially well. At Friday’s close, the Contest median was up 25.17% YTD (vs. up 20.59% YTD a week ago). In comparison, the Nasdaq Biotech Index was up 33.32% YTD (vs. up 32.82% YTD a week ago), while the Nasdaq Composite Index was up 15.55% YTD (vs. up 13.88% YTD a week ago).
At Friday's close, 5 of the 38 Contest portfolios were in the red, with 14 of the 38 portfolios beating the NBI.
Below is the Top Ten list. Also below are the Top 5 & Worst 5 Stocks ranked by % Gained and % Lost for the week. Posted this week, as well, are the Top 5 & Worst 5 Stocks ranked by % Gained and % Lost for the year.
(Foreign stock prices are not converted to US$ in the weekly and YTD Top 5 & Worst 5 tables, when posted.)
Portfolio adjustments: None.
Have a safe & fun weekend biotechies!
(All corrections, especially adjustments for splits, greatly appreciated.)
