And entitlements do not need cutting. They need reorganization.

Single payer would greatly reduce costs. Competitive bidding for drugs would save 100 billion!

SS, just raise the cap. That would make it good for 100 years.

SS raised millions and millions of people out of poverty. Mostly old scared sick people and mostly women. Can't go back to that. Pubs want to because they have no conscience or sense.

Society has the RIGHT to charge millionaires for social security. Society has the right, and indeed, it has the OBLIGATION. Because it would protect the tribe and keep us healthy.

Those are worthy goals. One of my main contentions is that if we want those things, then we need to raise the taxes to pay for them. We can't continue to make new promises that simply increase the debt burden on future generations. It is already leading to collapse.

Bush's stupid idea of engaging in two wars, while cutting taxes twice, and borrowing to pay for it all, was the epitome of short term thinking, incompetence, and buffoonery. It's due in large part to him that we are where we are. However, Obama needs to compromise to fix this. I like his hard position that we need to increase taxes on the wealthy. Fine. Let's do that. But we have to cut Entitlement spending too. Everyone needs to take a hit. We're all in this together.
