That is a myth the plutocrats perpetrate to keep from paying higher taxes needed to support a larger welfare state. As long as you remain a democracy totalitarianism is impossible.
We don't need a larger welfare state, we need a larger tax paying base, which means fewer people on welfare and more jobs. As far as Democracy making Totalitarianism impossible, that's just fantasy. They have Democracy in Venezuela and Russia, but we both know that Chavez and Putin are Dictators. They have the facade of Democracy and the reality of Totalitarianism.
Now, Just like Clinton did, we will reverse the nonsense of the last 30 years of neo con rule, increase taxes, cut defense, vote in universal health care, increase unions and public schools, and pay down the debt.
Clinton was far more fiscally conservative than this bunch in power now. Did you know that he actually increased taxes and rolled back the welfare state? He also kept a lid on military spending, and actually did run surpluses. Obama has cut payroll taxes, increased the welfare state to the largest in history, dramatically increased military spending, and has run the largest deficits in history, although I credit that fact mostly due to the shitty decisions Bush made during his terms in office. So don't compare Clinton to Obama. Clinton was far superior.
If you guys had given me Hillary to vote for over Obama, I'd have done it in a second. She would have been superior to Obama. |
