Your idea of "mainstream" climate scientists are those who seem hell bent upon stifling any questioning of their climate models and scientific methodology. We saw it with the Climategate scandal, and we see it with the folks like Skeptical Science.. (the founder of which is a self-employed cartoonist, albeit with some background in physics).
