You post a picture of either drought stricken, or flooded, field (I can't quite tell) and then you post a link on how chilling factors impact fruit bearing trees??!!
Come on.. I expect more from you.. But then again, maybe I'm overestimating your abilities to argue your point..
I'll tell you what.. I'm currently in Jakarta, Indonesia.. As SOME of your ilk may know, they pretty much have a dry season and a wet season.. They certainly don't get any snow here, and the temperatures seldom reach freezing, if ever..
But give those plants some rain and this place blossoms with green.. But take that rain away and everything turns yellowish..
And their fruit trees, especially their beloved, but repugnant smelling Durian, and other fruit, trees certainly don't require a "chilling requirement"..
