Couldn't Apple have designed one by now (I am not an engineer so I don't know how hard that would be to accomplish). If Nokia could design the 920T, why couldn't Apple design a Mobile specific iPhone? I just think Mobile doesn't care about the iPhone like other telecoms, due to its number of subscribers.
I think the onus is on Apple to adapt to the market, not the other way around. If Apple doesn't have a phone that works well on their network, they're not going to carry it.
I think, my opinion, is that Apple has too many balls in the air. There is a good argument that the Nokia 920 is a superior product for the average consumer in every aspect except weight and apps. It's really a "cooler" product... the coolness factor could turn against Apple. And Nokia understands and has better relationships in the world market than Apple.
I think Apple is selling a crap load of product. I think they're hands down ahead on tablets, and there is a ton on growth there, just starting. I am and will remain long Apple, but I think they may lose world wide business in phones to both Android and Windows phones.
A truly new phone every two years, with an incremental upgrade in the off year, isn't going to cut it. Marketing isn't going to cut it. Half assed apps like Maps isn't going to cut it. One model, with older tech at reduced prices isn't going to cut it.
The competition has caught up and is passing Apple in phones. And that's the current cash cow.
I think this Q will be great. Next year, I'm not sure. |
