I am a instrumentalist, incrementalist AND punctuated equilibrium guy (grin). Strange, huh? Incremental but not a straight line.

We evolved humans developed databases and processing computers in a snippet of cosmic time. Based on what you call "...the laws of physics and chemistry combined with matter" The 4+ BILLION year old earth in a 40+ billion year old universe saw life develop through constant random chemical combinations and evolutionary experiments, mostly failures.

Once it became serial,"organic" and especially reproductive, it was based on superior competitive advantage and adaptation (sometimes cooperation and altruism provided the best advantage) to the environment and change.

Why is that so hard to comprehend??
