George,

The confluence of S3 specific problems and the problems of the general
hi-tech market will make it difficult to see much better than a flat
and narrow trading range for S3 until some meaningful good news comes out.

I have wondered too about the absence of any formal statement from S3 about
meaningful changes in its operations. I would hope we will see clarification
on the revenue recognition issue since that, IMO, caused an extra $2-3/share
decline. However, with the hi-tech water so muddied, it may have less of an
effect now than had they done so when the reported the extend of the problem.

Looks like we will be treading water for some time.

Come to think of it, if we agree that consolidation in the industry is
inevitable, then I think the current anemic state of the semi-mkt will
only serve to accelerate the process of such consolidation. This may not be
so bad.

At these levels will just keep hanging in.

Onward.
