So.. warming oceans mean that less water comes from the bottom of the oceans to the surface, carrying vital Iron nutrients with it?

I thought warm water (and air) rises, not sinks?

Furthermore, the fact that when volcanic ash, or other sources of Iron (including fertilization) takes place, suddenly those phytoplankton blossom in large quantities.

So no one can claim that "acidification" prevents phytoplankton growth.

As Dr. John Martin theorized, the limiting factor is Iron. For whatever reason that Iron is not sufficiently available to sustain 1950 levels of phytoplankton, it's important to restore it, if only to sustain the marine food chain.

But nice for Mr. Romm to acknowledge the 40% decline.. But he's got some fact wrong, IMO.
