Native WIFI KeepAlive a confirmed new Windows Phone 8 feature

The ability to keep WIFI connected as a native option even when the device is suspended was first noticed on the HTC 8S.

Now the feature has also shown up on the Chinese Nokia Lumia 920T, confirming that it was not an HTC addition, but a new feature of later builds of the Windows Phone 8 OS, meaning it should come as an update to all handsets eventually.

That’s not to say Nokia does not have any unique new software features. The Chinese handset has a Call Blocking list which allows users to intercept calls or SMS messages and apply rules to them, including of course ignoring them.

While we do not know when these features will hit existing devices, it should eventually hit all devices when the Apollo + update is rolled out in Q1 2013.
