12/7/12 Contest Update
It could be the looming fiscal cliff or the sight of multi-bears gorging on Apple stock, but the investor fear and greed seesaw had a bit more weight on the fear side this week.
At Friday’s close, the Contest median was up 23.89% YTD (vs. up 25.17% YTD a week ago). In comparison, the Nasdaq Biotech Index was up 31.70% YTD (vs. up 33.32% YTD a week ago), while the Nasdaq Composite Index was up 14.31% YTD (vs. up 15.55% YTD a week ago).
Both Contest leader GENE’s portfolio, up 146.46% YTD, and second place RKRW’s portfolio, up 127.74% YTD, had losing weeks. But RKRW’s portfolio gave up less ground and closed the gap somewhat between the two. BIOMAV’s portfolio, up 61.35% YTD, remained in third place.
At Friday's close, 5 of the 38 Contest portfolios were still in the red, with 13 of the 38 portfolios beating the NBI.
