Vinod: You keep citing Ford and MCI as it the entire world turns on some new-found technology axis. Why is Compaq a 100% Novell shop in-house and very proud of it. And why is Compaq streering so many of its enterprise clients to Novell products??

All I know is NT 5.0 is dead in the water intil at least late '99. Try as they may, MS will not be able to freeze Moab out of the market when the business demand is there NOW. We will have at least 6 months, if not an entire year to ourselves. That's an eternity in this business. The media will be all over this in a very positive way - even if your idea of "positive" equates to pure/simple exposure for being the only default NOS that's native TCP/IP compliant with all the NDS/Java hooks, bells and whistles.

As for throwing in Groupwise and Managewise for FREE, I think its an excellent idea. They're doing this with NDS - except for the NT-compatible version which I think should change also.

Novell is far from history. The upgrade revenues in '98 are going to really surprise people. The stock now is trading on the assumption that it will simply "hold on" pending a buyout offer. I say Novell's stock price will be in the high $20's once again before the first buyout offer surfaces. At that point, the sales momentum will be back and risk will.have melted away, more than justifying the premium paid.

Good luck with your new investment in Novell!
