Market share.

This comes up a lot. I think people remember when Microsoft had 97% of the worlds share of PCs and the lion's share of applications. It mattered then. I think our emotions remember that time, perhaps too much.

On phones I don't think it matters very much.

1) there are plenty of apps for iPhones - iPhones were the first touch screen smart phones and have a large share
2) unless iPhones get down to less than 10% there will be plenty of apps as developers make more on the iOS platform in general. Even at a 10% market share the share is of a larger market than the PC market.

In fact as we've discussed the iPhone's share tends to be the profitable share. It seems that way in China.

Not that its something we shouldn't watch though. I'm not in any way an expert but I although there are several good high end phones right now the iPhone is not in any danger yet. Its a damn good phone, particularly where it matters. Its a well balanced phone.
