Kevin,
Re -- it wouldn't surprise me if, were you able to overclock a K5 to 233 mhz, it would perform similarly to a K6 233.

I suggest you read up on why AMD and cyrix came up with the PR
rating. It was because a 133Mhz 6x86/K5 == PR200 6x86.

Now do you get it?

Well I can continue on this line of posts, but it would be a waste.

Do you dispute that the the Cyrix 6x86mxPR233 is much faster than an Intel MMX-233 or even a P2-233? Show me a Winbench result that says that, you won't find one.

Despite this, the Cyrix chip only runs at 187 MHz.

Its clear, S, that you don't understand MP design -- there are more ways to higher performance other than higher clock speeds. Also there are better roads to 300 MHz than juicing up the wattage to the chip like Intel does.
(P2-300 = 40 watts*, P2-233 = 33 watts*, K6-233 = 28 watts)
