Come on. 67? Really? That's so terrible? I was born after 1960- "full" retirement age for me is 67. I would support Obama raising the medicare age to that. I realize all the old people want handouts, but since we aren't giving much to children, I don't see the point in giving away the store to the elderly. That has never made sense to me. Our society is top heavy with old people- and I'm close to being part of the problem myself. And the boomers are just going to make it worse. Might as well prepare. There's no reason seniors should get such special treatment- especially not if they have resources to spend on their own health care. Let them raise the retirement age. Let there be welfare type healthcare programs for the profligate.

I see absolutely no reason for young people to transfer their earnings to old people who don't need them, until it's absolutely necessary. I guess 67 could work as a proxy for "absolutely necessary" as long as life expectancy doesn't increase any.
