It was my respect for the purity of the Andrews pitchfork that required me to make that point.

Certainly Andrews encouraged adaptation and experimentation when using his work..., so I would be the last to criticize your interpretation.
I'm relieved to see you know that difference.

As an example of experimentation.... google Hagopian Line.

The pitchfork when drawn properly does work with trends, but it's really a method of defining impulse waves...
Think of surfing... waiting for the best wave sequence... very much like surfing.

btw... the Chip here is not the originator of Stockcharts.com or chips charts... ehhh to bad...!!!
