Hi teevee; The time the solar system takes to go from one apsis to the other would be a half a galactic year, i.e. around 120 million years. So the distance to the galactic center changes too slowly to be able to make 2012 warmer than 1972.

I would think there should be some effects with the 120 million year-period. But that's for "future Congress" to worry about.
