Okay I was able to get access to the gasification article without having to register. I thought the author did a pretty thorough job covering projects that have been tried as well as the ones that are in the pipeline. I thought it was kind of odd that perhaps the most significant project of them all, Teesside, only merited one lonely paragraph:

US company Air Products is building the largest waste gasification plant in the UK to date at a business park at Billingham on Teesside. It will handle up to 350,000t of waste, from an as yet undisclosed source, when completed in 2014.

Also the date on the article is current, but there is no mention of the 2nd plant at Teesside that APD has already announced. Given that the 2nd plant is the same size as the first, the combined total will make the largest gasification "center" in the UK by far. Maybe he left it out intentionally so it can be covered in more detail in a subsequent article, but I thought it was a significant oversight.
