I've been shopping for a flat screen for some time. Currently I watch on Sony Wega TVs which were about as good as CRTs got. I'm happy with them, except for their HUGE size.

I have to say, I'm not all that impressed by they "better" pictures of the flat screen or HDTVs I've seen. They are not all that better looking than my Wegas. If I buy one it will be more about freeing up space in my home which is worth in $250/sq ft and saving energy over my Wegas.

I think if you read up on what Gene Munster told investors about where Apple is going on their TVs it might become more clear to you:

Munster says its not content keeping it back its the IGZO screens which seem to have quality advantages as well as cost advantages over LED and OLED screens. See links in my post:

My guess is an Apple TV is going to be a superior experience. I doubt I'll get one but I'm guessing a lot of people will. Even poor people splurge on TVs.
