I think that Congress has already painted themselves into a corner where their only option now is to do a Continuing Resolution Amendment to postpone the fiscal cliff. But since Obumbo controls the departments, he can start to make big cuts in defense and other agencies anticipating the cliff. News of massive layoffs in the government sector just before Christmas should be enough to get a main model sell signal.
