It will be very hard to make 10% of immediate cuts in defense without cutting current government jobs and contracts to companies that will cut jobs. The press will love to do stories on white collar defense workers losing their jobs at Christmas because of the fiscal cliff. The DOD is like a large battleship that can not turn easily to avoid short term change.
