Bentway, When I was in junior high, the legend was that coca-cola and asparin would get you high, so everyone did that at a party. No one got high. That's nice. I'm sure you also tried cola and Pop Rocks as well.
The point is that drugs are controlled and strictly regulated for a good reason. Some are OTC, some require a prescription, and a few (e.g. narcotics) have to be kept under strict lock-n-key.
The libertarian position is to just legalize it all and inform people of all the dangers, but that would be a complete nightmare for doctors, pharmacists, and everyone in the health care industry. They will be the ones who have to deal with all the idiots who don't listen. Not to mention family members, friends, coworkers, law enforcement, drivers, airport workers, airlines, restaurants, bars, teachers, etc.
And for what? Just so people can get high? How incredibly stupid is that?
