One of the problems with kindle/itunes etc is that you can't even share it. There is no fair use. The whole thing is messed up. I like to own the media I buy and share it with a reasonable set of people.
You can always burn a CD and give it to your friends. And the music files themselves can be transferred from one computer to another, since there's no copy protection. Did you want Apple to make it even easier for you?

In the old days, you would have bought an album. If you wanted to share it with your friends, you'd either tape it or loan it to them. I don't really see that you're more restricted now than you were then.
