>>>>The American Computer Scientists Association

This link claims there is an association in american computing with over 2.5 million members, which would be something over 2% of the entire work force.

I had never heard of them before yesterday.

Now I belong to IEEE and ACM and SMPTE and AAAS. In fact I'm beginning to think I'm a chronic joiner of technical organizations. I get junk mail from everybody under the sun because of this, including multimedia conferences in africa and animation conferences in Japan, but I have never gotten any mail from them.

What gives. If this organization is for real, it has most of the programmers in america in it. They call these members computer scientists, but I will just bet that the 2.5+ million members claimed is more than the number of PhDs in all fields in this country.

Dan, Dermot, anybody else: heard of these people before? apparently they should have somebody standing on every street corner in America, handing out Microsoft brochures.
