That's why I drew attention to the definitional problems. We can argue that these acts are such that the perpetrator must have been mentally unstable. That kind of circular reasoning won't help at all. The problem with your argument is that it can lead to "lock up the mentally ill" policies. That's why I'm resisting this notion.
