Which is perfectly valid marketing. Long ago everybody in this industry figured out the question of marketing to the suits vs marketing to other people in the organization.

You know what the suits are going to buy in advance. AT&T, IBM, Microsoft and Oracle, mainly. Whatever the safest bet seems to be, mainly.

If you are not #1, you need to go another way. Guerilla marketing demands it, market segmentation demands it, survival demands it. You hit people at home, you influence their kids and spouses, you go after people who the decision makers in a company are reluctant to cross.
