Why would you stock up if you already have guns and ammo?

Two days ago, the day of the shootings, I drove past a small gun and ammo shop where I live. I've never seen more than one car parked in front of it but on that day the parking lot was full and cars were parked up and down the road.......buying more guns and ammo??
