Since SS was enacted, it has been nothing but a string of massive tax increases which don't even come CLOSE to paying for them.

But look SS is not in such bad shape...the worst case scenario benefits get cut by 25% and it lives on...the problem is MC isn't it?

And that problem will not go away. I mean, if you eliminate the program the problem does not go away...it does not eliminate the need and, more importantly, the cost for elder care. I don't think you can dump the cost of elder care on the elders alone...means testing is attractive but another form of progressive taxation by limiting benefits for the better off....

So what's the solution? We have to get per capita HC costs in line with the rest of the world....and do single payer which probably is one of the reasons for the lower per capita costs in other industrialized nations. The ROW is already there...
