I would say the majority of Dittoheads behind their chickenhawk Buffet Table and Oxycontin Commander R. Limbaugh, still think Viet Nam was a war we could have won if not for the mythological smelly hippy communists led around by Jane Fonda.

But no historian or scholar in their right mind would say it was a winnable war...

The mistake that our broad-based anti-war movement made was to make enemies of those who served, a frame we helped the RW get away with. When the hawk establishment didn't support the vets with help when they came back, we doves took most of the flak..

There were atrocities, bravery and stupidity to spread around, on both sides in that war. We had the bombs, chemical weapons and landmines, though - they had caves and utter devotion to fighting foreigners on their soil even with a divided population in a civil war.
