You can add them to a policy just like any other asset if you choose too - more valuable guns will need to be looked at by a gun shop to rate them on condition - just like old cars and coins. Photo's of condition, serial numbers (if they have any) etc.

There is no requirement for any insurance on owning/possessing guns.

Insurance companies have no access to gun ownership records.
