Lee:
Thanks for posting Alan's speech which I enjoyed reading.
So some of those Asian countries and banks are run by a bunch of crooks, as opposed to our own sqeaky clean politicians, FHA, EPA, HUD,
lottery directors??.
Well OK, but I have great hopes that it will not affect our trade
too badly, because our ground-level people who have been purchasing or selling goods over there and building an enormous trade must be used to dealing with them on the existing conditions.
It does bother me that the international bankers knew about those
problems early on, and which explains to me why the DOW was bobbing
up and down for about a month before it really tanked.
( I assume they were taking actions to reduce their exposure to
those foreign markets).
In which case the assumption that our markets tanked because
of exagerated exuberance or over-valuation of tech stocks or
too high P/E's is only part of the whole picture.
And it certainly does not look like the start of a permanent
depression.
