Surprisingly strong report, although a lot of it came from inventory increases and Federal deficit spending, which aren't organic growth factors that are sustainable. However, I'll take it. What I like to see is that the revisions are upwards for a change. Could be that we're getting some firmer ground beneath our feet. I still think that in the next 6-9 months NBER will come back and say we were in a recession in Q2 or Q3 of 2012, but unless Congress screws it up, maybe a real recovery is around the corner? Maybe. I still think there are many risks to worry about in the first half, but we'll see. Not time to up my stock allocation yet, but I'm keeping my powder dry for the day when we can say the recovery is real and the extraordinary monetary and fiscal policy stimuli can start to be withdrawn.
