We are asking the wrong question. The question should be, “what has changed?” What has changed in a culture where only one or two generations ago gun ownership (outside the inner cities) was common and acceptable and the idea of gun violence was rare except in war or serious criminal conflict.

Not too long ago (outside inner cities) everybody and his brother was a gun owner and usually from an early age and domestic gun violence was extremely rare.

What changed? It’s been said that a man can’t give birth to a child but what is also important to note is that a woman cannot give birth to a man...at least not a noble man with impeccable manners, a protector of the weak (anti-bully), a provider for those who are dependent, chivalrous ( a strong, caring and gentle steward of society). Every boy needs to have the influence of these positive and strong influences present throughout their developmental period to grow into a strong and noble man … otherwise we get the ‘Lord of the Flies’ phenomenon. Where were the positive, strong males in the lives of James Holmes (Aurora Colorado Shooter) and Adam Lanza (Newtown shooter). Ask yourself how these guys were able to just slip through the system until they exploded on us, ask yourself what has changed… it isn’t the availability of guns. When was the last time celebrating manhood seemed like a positive idea in our society? Lots of other things have changed, leaving society with an emotionally shattered social conscience. Question it…
