I thought Mark V.'s article was good but I thought the RA angle could have used more examination. He did not really connect the dots with the three RA investments. He says RA:

"...has involvement in waste to energy projects through recent investments in England based Waste2Tricity."

What that omits is that W2T is already tightly connected to AFC Energy and has exclusive deployment rights for AFC's fuel cells in the UK (for this application). W2T is also working with APD and claims to have identified the Teesside location for APD. Teesside "...is being considered for a demonstration of AFC's fuel cell technology...". Presumably, if it works out well there, it would likely be considered for deployment in any other plants APD builds in the UK. In other words, RA did not just invest in three W2E companies.

Slide 19 confirms a hunch that the real play for RA and the reason for his investment is not the upside potential of these companies but more so to get access to the opportunities to put very large amounts of capital to work in projects that will generate stable, consistent, long-term returns.
