Taking the suggestion from Judi, I just got back from Walmart where I bot an HDMI cable. I simply plugged it into my laptop, then into the LCD screen and as if by magic, my DVD was ready to run on the big screen. This may not be as elegant as having another big box sitting along side my Comcast cable box, but it solves the occasional need to see a DVD. I should point out, these are art instruction videos, not Hollywood movies (which I rarely watch). For the most part, I will most often watch these instructional vids on my laptop sitting on my drawing table where I can watch a demo, pause the vid and see if I've learned anything.
I have many, many old VCRs that I will have to just forget about, or replace them with CDs. But most are not that valuable to me anymore as I've probably "outgrown" them.
All in all, I call this problem resolved. Thanks to all who attempted to help. Great board, this. |
