And it is really easy to predict, unlike other aspects of the future. No working age adults appear that weren't children first.

I think the best graph to visualize this is a population pyramid. You can see the lump of the baby boom, the gap of WWII, and the missing females in China. Here is a very good site populationpyramid.net, it has the World and individual countries, I think its estimates for Japan are optimistic. On finer grain (1 year versions) you can see flu epidemics and such.
