Can someone tell me how is Nasdaq index computed each day?! I am totally confused as how can possibly Nasdaq be considered as a high tech index (or at least considered as heavily dependent on high techs) and yet for it to be off from its high only about 5-10%?! You pick any high tech stock (and I mean any high tech stock with the exception of Microsoft of course) and you will see it is down at least 25% from its high only about 2 months ago! In most cases high techs are down as much as 50-80%! So how can Nasdaq be off by only about 5%?! Surely the index is not just composed of Microsoft, or is it?!
