Gated communities will only take you so far. All too true. But so long as we refuse to insist that political campaigns be publicly financed and live with various SC decisions, laws, and regulations, that permit the wealthy to pour as much money as they like, without the public knowing who does it and how much, that doesn't bode well for the "rest of us" taking back the political processes. Take the Koch brothers as an illustration. The global fate, given climate change is terribly clear. But they continue to think in terms of the shortest of short term interests. And have the political wherewithal to lock up the political process in their favor.
