[Covad and ADSL] <<<Covad has a delicate relationship with the Baby Bells, which are both suppliers of phone lines and competitors in the DSL market. (So far, the Bells are only operating in their own phone-service territories.) Analysts said Covad has been secretive because it didn't want the Bells to know the scale of its ambitions.
